Multisensory Integration

The details of how monarchs navigate over 2,500 km to specific overwintering sites are under intense investigation. Decades of research has revealed key features of their biology that enable them to do this (e.g., an antennal time-compensated sun-compass, inclination magnetic compass, etc.). We are interested in studying how multi-modal cues are utilized during migration and how migration has shaped sensory capacity in monarchs.
