This question has motivated my broad research endeavors, from &#8220;fieldwork&#8221; (i.e. playful exploration) in my <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Opelousas,_Louisiana\" target=\"_blank\">hometown<\/a> in rural Louisiana, to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/2006.igem.org\/wiki\/index.php\/MIT_2006\" target=\"_blank\">building biological machines<\/a>, to studying butterfly migration (among other pursuits). I am most fascinated by those models that integrate different scales of biological organization, from molecules and cells to individuals and populations. I ultimately seek to establish such models through my work while shedding new light onto organismal function and evolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\">I am deeply committed to programming and practices that substantively address inequality and increase diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>I am an <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/lsa.umich.edu\/eeb\/people\/faculty\/andre-green.html\" target=\"_blank\">Assistant Professor<\/a> of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/lsa.umich.edu\/eeb\" target=\"_blank\">Ecology and Evolutionary Biology<\/a> at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. I did my postdoctoral work with <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kronforstlab.org\" target=\"_blank\">Marcus Kronforst<\/a> at the University of Chicago, my graduate work with <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.extavourlab.com\" target=\"_blank\">Cassandra Extavour<\/a> at Harvard, and my undergraduate studies at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/biology.mit.edu\" target=\"_blank\">MIT<\/a>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Photo Credit: Dale Austin (University of Michigan) Delbert Andr\u00e9 Green II How are &#8220;complex&#8221; traits built through the process of evolution?
